Menu Plan Monday - Bonnie - Edition 1

I've just discovered this site called I'm An Organizing Junkie !!
I don't need to tell anyone who knows me how much I love a site like this !!
~
Menu Plan Monday is a part of that site. Here's what Laura - The Organizing Junkie herself has to say about MPM. (I cut and pasted the red text from here)

I’m an Organizing Junkie is home to Menu Plan Monday. I truly believe that menu planning is one of the best places to start in your quest to get organized. Each week over 200 ladies share what’s on their menus for the week and we’d love to have you join us! It’s a wonderful opportunity to keep your menu planning efforts on track week after week not to mention the many great ideas and recipes that come from reading the menus of the many other participants. If you need further help with menu planning these posts may help get you started:

  1. Hi Bonnie, I am a newbie as well as this week is only my second week at posting on MPM. I am in Melbourne so it will be good to have some more Aussie ideas to check out as well. By the way, we are having fried rice this week too.

  3. Hi Bonnie!
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Yes, the brown rice is wonderful. We make this dish all the time and it is so quick and easy. I am going to have to try your Quinoa dish. I have never used this grain before and have always wanted to. Have a great day!

Please feel free to visit. I'm saving you to my fav list, so I can visit you.

    Here's my cranberry scones recipe:

    Cranberry Scones

    CRANBERRY-ORANGE BUTTER:

1 1/2 cups butter (no substitutes), softened
1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
    2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
    1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel

    SCONES:

    2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    2/3 cup sugar
    2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    3/4 cup butter (no substitutes)
1 cup chopped fresh or frozen cranberries
    3/4 cup buttermilk

In a mixing bowl, cream butter. Stir in cranberries, confectioners; sugar and orange peel; mix well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Meanwhile, combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add cranberries. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; gently knead 6-8 times. Divide in half. Pat each into an 8-in. circle. Cut into eight wedges. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15-18 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from pans to wire racks. Serve warm with cranberry-orange butter.

    Makes 16.

  6. What a great website! And your weekly grocery tab is stellar, that is pretty good for feeding a family of four!

I also have a weekly plan, but it is at home in my binder. Tonight is leftovers from last night. I made a fantastic baked macaroni and cheese with gouda, carmelized onions, and sweet italian sausage. YUM!

  8. Welcome to MPM! I love it - I don't have the its-5 o'clock-what-in-the-world-do-I-make-? problem anymore. :)

  10. Yum---everything sounds great!! Thanks for sharing the recipe for the carbonara. It looks and sounds yummy!! This is a great site, too. I saved it in my favorites!!

Thanks for the comment on the hands pics. I get lots of comments on them. I'm not sure what prompted us to take a picture of our hands with our oldest when he was a baby, but I loved it. I knew once our youngest was born we had to do another hands picture. I have that set of three pictures framed and hanging in our living room. If we happen to have more kids, you can bet there will be more hands pictures!!

  14. Hi Bonnie. Welcome to Menu Plan Monday. Thanks for stopping by. I love cooking so my pantry is stuffed! Menu planning is the best. Freezer cooking is even better I think though . Yes Organized Junkie is a woman after my own heart. She collects those little plastic bins, I collect baskets. Organizing is so fun.

  15. Hey Bon,
Did you do the Mr.Linky thing. I'm a little confused as to how to go about doing that. Still a little confused as to what it is exactly. I am registered...what next?
